Going “Beyond” Limits for Dreamland Mission Hospital – Charity Fundraiser 2026: Event Highlights
On Thursday 14 – Friday 15 May we hosted our fundraiser event in support of our dear friends, Dreamland Mission Hospital and what an incredible two days it was!
We thank God that it was such a successful event and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, cheered us on, joined us at Windmill Farm, completed laps and/or supported from afar. The love and generosity from our community has been amazing and we’re so grateful for every single one of you.
There were plenty of highlights along the way, from Friday’s legendary BBQ breakfast, cooked by Simon Tuson, to Tim Beacon’s fascinating demonstrations from MedAid, plus all the fantastic runners, walkers and supporters who kept the atmosphere buzzing throughout the event!
A message from Dreamland Mission Hospital:
“This fundraising event has directly opened the door to life-changing orthopaedic surgeries for people in and around Kimilili who simply can’t afford this kind of treatment when they need it. It has also strengthened Dreamland Mission Hospital’s ability to serve its rural community, ensuring more people receive the specialist care they urgently need.”
Now for some key updates:
- Andy has successfully completed the Backyard Ultra Challenge! Andy set off on his first 6.74km lap at 12.00pm on Thursday 14 May. Andy impressively completed 24 laps in total, running through the night and until 12.00pm on Friday 15 May – with each lap starting on the hour, every hour. Andy ran a total of 161.78km/100.5 miles! A massive well done to Andy on this phenomenal achievement and his superhuman determination.
- Becky Nightingale from Dreamland successfully completed her 80km challenge – despite her recent foot injury, Becky showed remarkable resilience and powered through. Well done to Becky, we are amazed at your dedication!
Over 100 people took part in completing laps across the two-day event, with countless others supporting remotely and cheering everyone on through their encouraging messages.
Finally, we are absolutely delighted to confirm that together, we have managed to raise £46,955.89, which is over 100% of our target! This is equivalent to 1173 laps and this has been match-funded to £93,911.78!
Andy’s final reflections after the 24-hour Challenge
Thanks to the funds raised, well over 100 people and potentially up to 200 people (depending on the complexity of each case) will now be able to receive the orthopaedic surgery they need. Any further donations received will also continue to be match-funded.

Why is this project important?
Dreamland Mission Hospital serves a rural community, where many simply cannot afford life-transforming orthopaedic surgery.
When a broken limb requires metalwork, costing £600–£900, patients are often sadly left to live with a disability or face amputation. The hospital has the facilities to carry out the procedures; however, they need the funds to purchase the metalwork and cover the cost of surgery.
Examples of surgery costs (including hospital stay, food and medicines):
- 1 internal wire for orthopaedics – £10
- A pair of crutches – £30
- Suturing under general anaesthetic – £50
- Simple fracture realignment – £75
- Basic burns surgery – £120
- Simple club foot surgery – £300
- Child orthopaedics surgery – £350
- Child orthopaedics surgery with metalwork – £650
- Adult orthopaedics surgery – £450
- Adult orthopaedics surgery with metalwork – £870
